10th Anniversary of GIMP Splash Tutorials

It is all just an experiment or a trial or something -- I have never done anything like this. We had a splash contest for GIMP's 10th Anniversary/Birthday. Somewhere between the first idea and actually accomplishing this, I almost made the mistake of calling it Wilbers Birthday, which it wasn't. In the end, we got more than 80 image submissions complete with some sort of tutorial or indication of the steps taken to complete the image.

Sven and/or Mitch picked this image by xi to be the splash for the 2.2.10 release.

To make this gallery, I ran through the contenders very quickly and picked ones that I thought were nice or interesting or even very GIMPish. I might have missed a good one or two and I apologise for that.

I was surprised how fun and interesting this turned out to be. I made very few changes to the words that the artist used. These contenders come from many different people and not all of them use English as a first language. The tutorials themselves can be something like notes taken to a full-fledged and beautifully styled html document and all the various phases in between of documenting medium.
